Three steps to taking control
As much as I enjoy getting to know my clients, welcoming them at my centre and sharing in the enjoyment of what they are achieving, the best thing of all can be to not see them again! Let me explain!
I often take immense satisfaction from those clients who don’t return for consultation after repeat consultation. You see, the essence of how I practice and what I teach can be passed on to you in just three consultations. With each of the people who come to me for help, my goal is to equip them with the knowledge and to focus their strength so that they can look after themselves. After seeing you three times I know that I can empower you to make a profound change in the way that you look after yourself. Those who apply the knowledge they take from my consultations and go on applying it after our time together have all the essential tools and information that they need to continue to practice good health. And I can’t tell you how much pride and pleasure I derive from hearing their continued success stories months and years later.
Good health can, of course, be far more complex at times. I see people who come to me seeking help with far more difficult and long-term problems. For some people, it will take more time and more work together than can be accomplished in just three sessions. For a few people, problems can be deeply entrenched and the battle to reverse bad habits or manage myriad mental or physical problems can require considerable time and energy. It can require the help and support of others, too. In these sorts of cases, my prolonged help and support and repeated get-togethers can be crucial.
But I see so many people who are amazed to discover that they can successfully manage their own health by themselves. Often, they just need someone to show them, motivate them and inspire them along the way or get them started on their health journey. Good nutrition, in essence, is simple. Understanding what you get depends on what you put in is a logical construct. I love helping people to reconnect with this simple truth and help them to manage looking after their health.
Empowering others is a wonderful thing. It encourages positivity and confidence. It allows people to take control of their own lives.
In my consultations, I like to establish goals and objectives with each of my clients: find out what they would like to achieve and then plan how we can do that. Sometimes, we do it via stepping-stone goals. Sometimes, the effort can be a lot harder than others. But I always clearly communicate their current health picture and the things that will be required. A first consultation allows me to listen to a person’s story, to find out what is at the cause of their health and nutrition concerns. A follow-up consultation is the beginning of addressing those concerns with an achievable action plan and starting to tackle problems and take back control. A third consultation can be a final consultation: it can be the moment we go over what objectives we have, how we have decided to achieve them and how you will now continue and take forward your learning.
While I will always be available to all of my clients whenever they need me, whenever they are struggling with what we have planned together, whenever they ‘fall off the wagon’, l hope for every new client that three consultations will be all it takes. And for many, it really is.
